Our Beliefs:

Ashley Baptist Church Is:

A Bible-Based Church - We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, and our authority for faith and life.

A Purpose-Directed Church - Ashley Baptist Church exists to honor God by making and maturing disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

A Fundamental Church - We declare and defend the cardinal doctrines of the Christian faith:

• The inspiration of the Bible

• The creation of man by a direct act of God.
• One God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
• The virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• His death on the cross for the sins of the world.
• His physical resurrection from the tomb.
• The salvation of man by the grace of God through faith alone.
• Christ's second coming to establish His kingdom on earth.

A Baptist Church - We believe in the historic Baptist distinctives:

• Believers baptism by immersion.
• The authority of the Bible.
• The self-government of the local church.
• The individual priesthood of the believer.
• A regenerate church membership.
• The separation of church and state.

An Independent Church - We belong to no denominational organization.

Our History

Ashley Baptist Church has been faithfully proclaiming the Gospel since 1848

1848 - Pioneers meeting in a one-room school house formed what was then called First Baptist Church of Oakfield.

1863 - The old chapel was erected on the corner of 10 Mile Road and Ashley Avenue.

1956 - The church's name was changed to Ashley Baptist Church in tribute to one of the church's founding families.

1974 - By democratic vote the church became independent of any denominational association.

1994 - Current Pastor, David A. Oliver, called.

1998 - Church added to the Independent Fundamental Baptist Association of Michigan.

2003 - New facility on M-44.

• Ashley Kids4TruthClub - an exciting mid-week Bible club for children.
• Mid-week prayer meeting and Bible study for adults.
• Summer camping opportunities for children and teenagers.
• Ashley Baptist Church supports several missionaries with our prayers and finances as they minister the Gospel around the world.
• Neighborhood Bible Time is a dynamic one-week summer program ministering to children and teens.
• Annual evangelistic conferences are held at Ashley Baptist Church by some of the country's most outstanding preachers.
• Glorify the Lord is the weekly radio broadcast ministry heart every Sunday morning at 8:30am on 1380 AM WSCG.
